FAQ
We specialise in interactive and improvised performances for theatrical and event spaces, including living history, interactive trails and murder mysteries. We are also engaged in more traditional performances for stage and audio production, educational events and lectures.
I'm interested in booking Avalard Productions for an event - what happens?
Thanks for thinking of us.
In the first instance, drop us an email or text message and we'll get back to you and arrange a meeting via phone / video call or in person as appropriate.
At the meeting we'll talk through your wants and requirements and any ideas you might have. We will then discuss what Avalard can do to help, and any specific considerations.
Bespoke or Off-the-peg?
Most of our productions are custom developed and scripted for specific events and spaces, but we are also growing a body of material we can adapt for multiple venues, including more traditional plays and performed entertainment. Our bespoke elements are tailored for you, the client.
The initial process is much the same regardless of the type of booking you're interested in.
What age-group are your performances suitable for?
This very much depends on the client. We run family-friendly and adult-appropriate performances, and everything in between. We'll discuss the tone of your event during the booking process.
What is the development process like? Will I hear from you before the performance day?
Once a booking is confirmed, we spend time researching and writing the story, and producing a working script.
Many of our invents include unscripted material, but every show works from thorough guidelines.
Any bespoke elements, or site specific requirements are incorporated, and delivery/performance timelines are agreed.
We will usually check in with you to keep you informed during the development period, and to check arrangements. Where possible we will visit the performance site, and may also prepare publicity materials.
Our working pattern is often spread across multiple projects simultaneously. We allocate times based on our own internal deadlines and work is completed in bursts. No two projects demands are the same.
Who owns the script?
Avalard Productions Ltd retains all copyright in any original material we produce, unless we specifically agree otherwise.
Will you produce an event based on my script?
If you already have a script in place, and would like Avalard Productions to perform and produce it for you, talk to us. We have different agreements for these scenarios but providing you have the rights in place, nothing is out of the question.
Who is going to be in your cast?
We have a growing team of freelance collaborators that we work with to facilitate our events, including writers, performers and crew. Some of us also work together for other companies so you may have seen us at another event. Owing to the freelance nature of our team, we do not guarantee any particular performers at booking stage. But if there is a particular member of our group you're keen to see, you can make a request.
Will you perform at my wedding/club?
We are happy to discuss possibilities round providing entertainment for all social and corporate events including weddings, birthdays, hen and stag dos, retirements and whatever else you can think of.
How much will it cost?
Our prices vary depending on the specific event or project.
If your event is tied to a budget, please present this up front.
We have different rates for corporate events.
Discounts are available for certain venues, repeat bookings and early settling of invoices.
Why does the event cost £x?
The duration of the delivered performance is only a fraction of the work involved. We spend considerable time working on all our projects, including site visits across the country, meetings, castings, research, writing, rehearsals, costumes... It all adds up very quickly. All our quotes are currently discounted for 2024.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
To secure bookings a non-refundable deposit of at least 25% of the agreed fee is required.
What happens if I cancel?
Your deposit is forfeited in most circumstances. Depending on when you cancel (or reschedule) additional cancellation fees may be applicable. We will try and facilitate a rescheduling of an event where possible, subject to availability of our team.
